We are proud to welcome Dr. John Evans as a Medical Advisor to AIROS Medical.

Dr. Evans brings decades of clinical experience and a deep understanding of lower-extremity vascular disease to our advisory team. As a podiatrist, foot and ankle reconstructive surgeon, and long-time advocate for earlier recognition and treatment of Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD), Dr. Evans plays a critical role in helping AIROS advance education, innovation, and patient-centered care—particularly for individuals at risk of limb loss.

Our team relies on trusted medical advisors like Dr. Evans to help guide clinical strategy, support provider education, answer questions from clinicians and patients, and inform product development. We are honored to collaborate with a physician whose career has been defined by both scientific rigor and compassion for patients facing complex vascular disease.

About Dr. Evans

Dr. Evans is a podiatrist based in Michigan with nearly 40 years of clinical experience. His professional journey began in pharmacy before he returned to medical training in podiatric medicine. Over the years, his practice evolved from general podiatry and reconstructive foot and ankle surgery to a strong focus on vascular disease of the lower extremities—particularly Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) and Chronic Limb-Threatening Ischemia (CLTI).

Through his work, Dr. Evans has seen firsthand how reduced arterial blood flow impacts wound healing, tissue health, and overall quality of life. He is especially passionate about addressing PAD earlier in the disease process, recognizing that many patients remain undiagnosed until symptoms become severe and limb-threatening.

What inspired you to focus so much of your work on vascular disease and PAD?

Peripheral arterial disease is incredibly common, yet widely underdiagnosed. Many patients don’t experience classic symptoms until the disease has progressed significantly. By the time we see them, tissue healing is impaired and the risk of limb loss is real. That’s what motivates me—finding better ways to identify PAD earlier and expand treatment options that can improve circulation, support wound healing, and preserve limbs.

PAD is not an isolated disease. It’s part of the same atherosclerotic process that affects the heart and brain. Treating it effectively requires collaboration across specialties and a long-term view of patient health.

How do you view the role of pneumatic compression therapy in arterial disease?

For many years, compression therapy was viewed primarily as a venous or lymphatic treatment. However, research has shown that arterial-specific intermittent pneumatic compression—using higher pressures, rapid inflation, and precise timing—can significantly increase arterial blood flow to the legs.

This type of therapy can improve circulation, support wound healing, stimulate collateral vessel development, and serve as a valuable adjunct to guideline-directed medical therapy and interventional procedures. Importantly, it also provides patients with something they can do at home, giving them more agency in managing their condition.

According to the latest AHA/ACC guidelines, intermittent pneumatic compression is even recommended for patients with no remaining surgical or interventional options—highlighting its importance across the PAD spectrum.

What excites you most about joining AIROS Medical as a Medical Advisor?

AIROS Medical has a genuine commitment to improving patient outcomes. I’ve known and worked with the team for several years, and what stands out is their dedication to education, innovation, and doing what’s right for patients.

The technology is thoughtfully designed, clinically grounded, and focused on real-world use in the home setting. I’m excited to contribute my experience to help expand awareness of arterial compression therapy, support clinicians, and ultimately reduce the risk of limb loss for patients living with PAD.

Looking Ahead

With Dr. Evans joining our advisory team, AIROS Medical continues to strengthen its commitment to evidence-based innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and patient-focused care across the vascular continuum.

We look forward to sharing more educational content, clinical insights, and collaborative initiatives with Dr. Evans as we work together to advance awareness and treatment options for Peripheral Arterial Disease.

Stay tuned for upcoming webinars, clinical resources, and thought leadership featuring Dr. Evans and the broader AIROS advisory team.
