From March 20–23, 2025, the Fat Disorders Resource Society (FDRS) Conference brought together patients, clinicians, and researchers in Atlanta, GA, to advance understanding and treatment options for lipedema and other fat disorders. AIROS Medical was honored to be part of this important event, reinforcing our commitment to supporting this community through education, advocacy, and innovative pneumatic compression therapy solutions.
Why AIROS Medical Supports the Lipedema Community
Lipedema remains widely underdiagnosed and misunderstood, leaving many patients searching for answers and effective treatment options. At AIROS Medical, we recognize the importance of raising awareness and providing solutions that enhance patient care. Our participation at FDRS 2025 reaffirmed our commitment to being at the forefront of discussions, supporting clinicians, and empowering patients with tools that make a difference in their daily lives.
Spotlight on Clinical Expertise: Adie MacKenzie’s Presentations
A key highlight of the conference was the insightful presentations by Adie MacKenzie, PTA, LMT, CLT-LANA, AIROS Medical Clinical Advisor. Her expertise in lymphedema, lipedema and related conditions provided valuable knowledge to attendees through two impactful sessions:
- Case Study Report: Role of CLT in hEDS & Undiagnosed Lipedema
- Adie’s presentation explored the growing connection between hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS) and lipedema, highlighting a case where a patient was diagnosed with lipedema during treatment for hEDS and lymphedema. She emphasized the vital role of Certified Lymphedema Therapists (CLTs) in recognizing lipedema in patients with overlapping conditions and providing essential education and care.
- The Benefits of Pneumatic Compression in the Continuum of Care
- Adie detailed the role of pneumatic compression therapy in managing lipedema and improving patient outcomes. Attendees learned how compression devices can provide effective symptom relief, reduce swelling, and enhance lymphatic function in a way that supports long-term care.
Note: Adie and our team at AIROS continue to get questions about pneumatic compression devices being used for lipedema treatment. While there is no insurance coverage for pumps available for patients with lipedema only as a diagnosis, there are many times clinical overlaps with lymphedema. Visit this web page to learn more about how lipedema patients can acquire a compression device with a prescription from a physician.
Bringing Innovation to Lipedema Treatment
Throughout the event, AIROS Medical showcased our advanced pneumatic compression therapy solutions, designed to improve circulation, manage swelling, and provide comfort for patients. Our commitment to patient-centered care, affordability, and ease of use was well-received by clinicians and patients alike.
As we continue advocating for better awareness and treatment options for conditions like lymphedema and lipedema, AIROS Medical remains dedicated to working alongside the community—ensuring more people receive the care and support they deserve.
