March 6 is World Lymphedema Day! Celebrated every year as part of Lymphedema Awareness Month, World Lymphedema Day aims to educate the public about this chronic condition that affects between 150-250 million people worldwide. We are proud to be partnering with various organizations to do our part in spreading the word. Our team will be busy this month working with various entities to raise awareness about the symptoms, treatments, and support options related to lymphedema.

One of the most critical organizations driving lymphatic disease awareness all year round is the Lymphatic Education & Research Network (LE&RN). Founded in 1998 to fight lymphatic diseases and lymphedema through education, research and advocacy, LE&RN supports World Lymphedema Day in many important ways. Hear from LE&RN national spokesperson and beloved actress, Kathy Bates:

In addition to many grassroots events, LE&RN has these exciting things planned:

  • Enjoy LE&RN’s One Act Play, Let’s Talk Lymphedema – Introduction by LE&RN President and CEO, William Repicci, and National Spokesperson, Kathy Bates, with a post-play panel led by director Mark Armstrong and the cast.
  • On World Lymphedema Day, LE&RN will release all presentations from our 2021 Virtual Lymphatic Summit for free. Sign up here to get access.
  • LE&RN Symposium on March 9 at 12pm ET: “COVID-19 and Breast Cancer-Related Lymphedema: Patient Experiences and the LymphVAX Study,” with Cheryl Brunelle. Register on Zoom.
  • Watch the documentary Not So Swell – a powerful statement on what it means to live with lymphedema and why the fight against lymphatic diseases is so important.

We have been working with the LE&RN group over the last few years, including participating in and sponsoring its walk series and political advocacy days. We have watched them continue to gain momentum and notoriety, and we are proud to work with them!

Join us as we celebrate World Lymphedema Day this coming Sunday, March 6, with the worldwide lymphatic community! If you are a patient or clinician looking to see how you can get involved in your area, please contact us immediately.
