We are proud to announce that AIROS will again sponsor the annual “Run/Walk to Fight Lymphedema & Lymphatic Diseases,” presented by the Lymphatic Education & Research Network (LE&RN). Actor Kathy Bates is the national spokesperson for LE&RN.
LE&RN is an internationally recognized non-profit organization founded in 1998 to fight lymphatic diseases and lymphedema through education, research and advocacy. With chapters throughout the world, LE&RN seeks to accelerate the prevention, treatment and cure of these diseases while bringing patients and medical professionals together to address the unmet needs surrounding lymphatic diseases, which include lymphedema and lipedema.
The organization has made great strides in lymphatic disease advocacy, including securing ongoing Congressional and National Institutes of Health (NIH) support for lymphatic research and lymphatic diseases, forging alliances with lymphatic disease advocates, and building the infrastructure necessary for meaningful research to be conducted by academics as well as by pharmaceutical and biotech companies. LE&RN’s vision is to achieve “a world without lymphatic disease and lymphedema.”
Part of LE&RN’s most recent success, both in advocacy and in generating awareness about lymphatic disorders, can be attributed to the efforts of actor, cancer survivor, and lymphedema patient Kathy Bates. Serving as the organization’s lead spokesperson, Ms. Bates has testified on Capitol Hill in support of federal funding, appeared at various LE&RN events, and worked to raise awareness of World Lymphedma Day. Among the organization’s fundraising vehicles is the annual “Run/Walk to Fight Lymphedema & Lymphatic Diseases.” AIROS Medical sponsored the 2019 walk series, which included attending the New York City walk last October and participating in LE&RN’s virtual expo with a dedicated online information page. Attending the walk were patients, including children with lymphatic disorders, and their families; Bill Repicci, the organization’s President & CEO; Linda B. Rosenthal, a member of the New York State Assembly; and various clinicians and business leaders dedicated to the treatment of lymphedema.
We are proud to support LE&RN and its mission, and the passion and dedication of the organization’s staff made it easy for us to decide to sponsor the Walk Series again in 2020. We will also be volunteering for the first annual LE&RN walk in Philadelphia, set to take place on Sunday, May 31. Below is a list of all the walk events:
Walk & Rally – Washington, D.C, Saturday, March 28
Run/Walk – Brighton, MA, Saturday, May 16

Run/Walk – Denver, CO, Sunday, June 14
Run/Walk – Santa Monica, CA, Sunday, June 28
