AIROS Medical recently attended the Symposium for Advanced Wound Care’s (SAWC) Fall conference in Las Vegas, held from November 2-4. The event was the first public launch of AIROS’ new compression therapy device and garment line. Thousands of wound care professionals, including nurses, physicians, and administrative personnel, as well as podiatrists, physical therapists, and other healthcare practitioners were in attendance.
AIROS presented its AIROS 6 and AIROS 8 sequential compression devices, as well as many of its upper and lower extremity compression garment models. The team had a chance to speak with hundreds of clinicians who work in wound centers and hospitals.
“Our team members have attended this outstanding conference in years past, and what we found most interesting about this event was the uptick in clinical understanding of and patient volume related to lymphedema,” says Gerald Makoid, president and CEO of AIROS Medical. “Nearly one hundred percent of the wound care experts we spoke have seen the condition of lymphedema on the rise. This speaks to the highly undiagnosed nature of this chronic complication.”
AIROS allowed attendees to sit in chairs inside their booth and test the compression equipment, which provides a massage-like feeling drive by air compression cycles. During the treatment sessions, AIROS’ staff received extremely positive feedback on the inflation and deflation feeling in the AIROS 6 and AIROS 8, the Lymphedema Preparation Treatment (LPT) secondary therapy modes, and overall usability and performance.
“We were thrilled to hear from wound care clinicians, the women and men actually using our equipment in the field, that we developed an outstanding product line,” says Makoid. “Compression therapy has been used to treat patients with lymphatic and venous disorders for decades. We are proud of the pumps and garments we have worked so hard to get into the hands of clinicians and patients, and look forward to sharing our clinical leads with our durable medical equipment customers.”
AIROS sells directly to Durable Medical Equipment (DME) suppliers, who fill scripts for patients written by their physician. The SAWC attendees who registered to receive information about acquiring AIROS equipment will be contacted by DMEs in their area along with AIROS’ sales teams.
