PRESS RELEASE – Audubon, PA – September 12, 2023 – AIROS® Medical, Inc., a medical technology manufacturer and designer specializing in compression therapy devices that treat lymphedema and venous complications, today announced availability of the AIROS 6P sequential compression device and pants-like compression garments that treat abdominal, pelvic, and leg swelling. The company launched the AIROS 8P sequential compression device and similar garments earlier this year.

The AIROS 6P is a 6-chamber pneumatic compression device that is reimbursed by Medicare (HCPCS Code E0651) and commercial insurance. The device functions the same way as the AIROS 6 device, which AIROS has provided since 2018, but adds new features and capabilities including:

  • Peristaltic Mode functionality: A wave-like inflation and deflation sequence sometimes preferred by physicians and lymphedema therapist. (This operating mode is availably for upper extremity treatment. See how Peristaltic Mode works in this helpful operating guide.)
  • Upgraded electrical rating: The device operates at 100-240 VAC, allowing use anywhere in the world.
  • Larger air pump: Allows treatment for new, larger garments required for use with some lymphedema patients.

AIROS has also launched new, larger 6-chamber double extra wide leg garments as well as pants-like lower body garments that are ideal for patients with lymphedema in the lower legs, back, abdomen, pelvic, and hip areas. The double extra wide leg garments treat larger lymphedema patients and eliminate the need for “custom-sized” garments in some cases.

The lower truncal “pants” garments treat additional areas of swelling in the legs and belly areas. The belly area is especially important, as this area contains important central lymphatic functionality. See a video of the pants garments in action.

AIROS 6P“We continue to listen to our physician partners, clinical advisors, and lymphedema patients themselves and develop products that they need,” says Gerald Makoid, CEO and president of AIROS Medical. “This updated 6-chamber device, paired with our 6-chamber pants garments, are critical additions for Medicare-aged patients and the lymphedema community as a whole. Our commitment to developing user-friendly compression equipment that enhance patient compliance is one of the reasons that we continue to be one of the fastest-growing pneumatic compression therapy device manufacturers in the world. We look forward to showcasing our new technology in Miami.”

The AIROS 6P and new garment accessories will debut at the UIP 2023 World Congress conference, spearheaded by the American Vein & Lymphatic Society. This conference and trade show will take place from September 17-21 at the Miami Convention Center in Miami, Florida. The event will bring together thousands of thought leaders in lymphatic and venous medicine, including vascular surgeons, lymphedema therapists, and wound care professionals. Visit AIROS Medical in booth 518 to test our entire line of pneumatic compression devices and garments, including our new truncal garment line.
